  • Top 10 Benefits of Having a Coaching Niche

Adapted by Carole Lewis from http://www.arhost.co.uk/blog/?p=87

Why should you have a coaching niche? Stephen Van Yoder, in his book 'Get Slightly Famous' points out the following benefits of discovering your niche and branding yourself.

    1. You differentiate yourself from your competition
    2. You confer top of mind status to you and your services
    3. You increase your authority and the credence of your decisions
    4. You place yourself in a leadership role
    5. You enhance your prestige
    6. You attract the right clients and the right opportunities for you
    7. You earn recognition for yourself and for your services
    8. You position your focused message in the hearts and minds of your target customers
    9. You increase your earning potential
    10. All aspects of your marketing are leveraged

The Beauty of a Coaching Niche

Adapted by Carole Lewis from: http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Beauty-of-a-Coaching-Niche&id=357429

Financial success in a coaching practice comes down to two primary things -- how successfully you market to one narrow coaching niche or target market, and how you value yourself, time and services. That's not to say that it's not also important that you are a skillful coach and have integrity in your coaching relationships. But these other factors weigh in more heavily with regard to sustained financial success. We'll focus now on niche marketing.

    Avoid the Coaching Niche

Adapted by Carole Lewis from: http://discussionleader.hbsp.com/

One of the first questions I was asked when I started out as a coach was "What's your niche?" The "correct" answer, it seems, was "top team," "high potentials," "leaders," "women," or "board members." But with little experience of coaching any of these clients, I was unable honestly to answer that question.

Seven years on, I am still unable to answer this question.

Tell us about your journey toward becoming a coach.

I started wondering about my life purpose 2 years after I started working. Then, one day, I saw at a previous boss' desk some promotional training materials in time management and stress management. I realized that I like learning and don't mind training. When I left that company, my bosses gave me a book written by a career counselor. Some years later, I obtained a Master 's degree in Training and Human Resource Management.
