Message from the President

Dear HKICC Friends,
Since its foundation in 2002, I have been an active member of HKICC and served in different roles including VP Corporate Coaching, Executive VP and now as President.
People, especially my colleagues, often ask me why I invest so much time and effort in this organization? What is the benefit I reap from this? Is it really worth it?

| The Spiritual Dimension of Coaching |

This article, originally published in Choice Magazine (www.choice-online.com), appears here with the kind permission of Dr. Patrick Williams, Founder and CEO, Institute for Life Coach Training http://www.lifecoachtraining.com/index.shtml
The spiritual dimension of the human experience is attracting much interest in coaching and in psychotherapy today. Many wonder how the two approaches can work together. I draw upon my own experience in psychology and philosophy to provide some context for the practicing life coach and executive coach.

| Employee Coaching vs. Performance Training |
 |
Adapted by Carole Lewis for HKICC from an article by Samaria Jones
Everyone's heard the old saying, "It's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease." In a fast-paced work environment, where the focus is on getting a product out the door, or resolving customer issues, the same attitude is usually taken about coaching. Coaching is often viewed as necessary only when employee performance is unbearably poor, or discouraged employees begin leaving the company. For entrepreneurs, who often have smaller staffs and budgets, coaching might also seem like an unnecessary expense.

Career and Personal Coach, Stress Management
What led you into coaching?
I started to coach for many reasons, most importantly: my desire to help people find their own values and inner confidence; my desire that more and more people live more passionately and fulfilled; and my frustration not to have helped people as well as I thought they needed when I was a tennis coach.
