Meet our Coach-Members: Martha Ann Collard

How much of your average workday is spent coaching?
Coaching currently accounts for approximately 25% of my time, however this is a number that I am actively growing.
Who do you typically coach?
My clients tend to be individuals seeking a more effective way of being. Clients range from college students seeking career development support through identifying their strengths and areas for development, to senior executives seeking to improve their leadership skills and teams seeking to work more effectively together.
Tell us something unique about your coaching style.
I use reflective listening coupled with numerous psychometrics and targeted questioning techniques to assist the coachee gain a greater understanding of themselves, their relationships with others and the interdependence of the two. Only through understanding themselves, their motivations, drivers, preferences and way of being may they begin to live and therefore interact consciously.
Describe the tools you use.
I am trained in numerous tools including the MBTI Step 2, FIRO B, CPI 260, Conflict Dynamics Profiler, Workplace Big 5, SHL OPQ as well as being an Accelerated NLP Practitioner, Certified Professional Facilitator and a student of ontological coaching. A commonly requested tool is the MBTI for its ease of use, availability in numerous languages and formats, substantial amount of background literature available and low cost.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
Personally, raising two wonderful children. Professionally, helping others achieve their ‘a-ha’ moments and leaving a lasting impact onto their lives.
What do you do for fun?
Aside from body surfing at Big Wave Bay, hiking hills, and practicing yoga regularly, I lead a cub scout pack, am actively engaged in Pony Club and am a volunteer fence judge in-training for the Equestrian Games 2008.
