Meet our Coach-Members: Kate Koranyi
Relocation Life Coach, Dip LC (Inst LC)
What got you interested in coaching?
A talk I attended by Paul McKenna (Hypnotist, Life Coach and Author) in February 2006 in Dubai, U.A.E., proved to be a defining moment for me. He kept emphasizing the importance of making changes, especially before you’re quite ready, since we’re experts at finding excuses. His talk had a huge impact on me and I suddenly found the courage to make big and long-lasting changes in my life. I read all his books and everything I could find on life coaching, self-improvement and instinctively knew that inspiring and coaching people was something I would absolutely love to do myself.
Who do you typically coach?
People who are standing at the crossroads of their life, who crave change, but don’t know how to proceed or fear keeps them stuck. People interested in personal power! I particularly feel drawn to international people involved in relocation, as that is my passion.
What makes you a great coach?
I’m very compassionate, my intuition is excellent, and I have a knack of putting people at ease, which in turn helps them open up.
Do you have a favorite tool/technique/psychometric assessment?
I like using the Gap Analysis Form (first column: where am I, second column: where do I want to be, third column: what I must do to bridge the gap), as it provides instant clarity over the steps needed to reach a goal, it takes away the mental fog and shows that something is do-able.
A favourite question of mine is: if that (whatever the issue is) were no longer a problem, how would your life be different? This creates a mental shift, challenging the person to think: is it really such a problem, would my life be THAT different without it, or could an adjustment of attitude create change/relief?
Did you set any New Year’s resolutions for 2008?
Yes, loads! One of my biggest resolutions is to build up Prêt-à-Vivre Coaching, my relocation coaching business, by networking more, putting myself out there, and being bolder in my approach. In addition, I am making it my intention to attend more HKICC events. I am determined to continue to read more coaching / psychology books, work on myself, be involved in all things related to self-improvement, as it’s important to constantly learn and evolve. I believe this is what makes a credible Life Coach.
