Anna Lorant

Executive Coach and Life Coach
MA, MSc, ACCA

What led you into coaching?

Many things, but probably the most powerful of them all was my first encounter with coaching. I was working as an audit manager at the time at PricewaterhouseCoopers, and juggled with the usual suspects: work, career, family, you name it. Coaching changed my perspective enormously, I saw the light at the end of the tunnel, things started to fall into their places. I have walked the talk and it became 'my call'. As my professional career took off I also learned to enjoy the demanding roles of a spouse and mother. After completing my second Masters degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology and a number of coaching programs I realized I could do more: I could be perfectly positioned to help fellow professionals and executives to better cope and enjoy their life and career.

As a coach I stand out thanks to my successful corporate experience, extensive training, multicultural background and the passion I feel about my work.

Who do you typically coach?

My clients tend to be people at milestones or crossroads in their lives, be it a promotion, a new challenging leadership role, or the other end of the spectrum - contemplating career change or stuck in their career.

What does coaching mean to you?

Way of life.

Tell us something unique about your coaching style

I tend to mix 'things' which at first glance might seem opposite, but are they? When I coach I use lots of structure, but my intuition as well. My communication style has been described as direct and at the same time very generous. I use lots of humor, but there is serious work going on.

What is your favorite coaching tool?

Humor. It lightens up a difficult subject; it helps to break the ice and adds to the feel good factor which is important in the coaching session for my clients.

Why did you join HKICC?

I wanted to become a member of a local professional coaching organization, which supports its members and develops the coaching culture for the bigger community as well. I felt HKICC meets all these criteria.

What do you do for fun and relaxation?

Dancing Argentinean tango with my husband, hiking with family and friends, walking the dog and reading lots of books on coaching, leadership and personal development.
