New Members Welcome Lunch

Find out what really happened when 9 coaches gathered for lunch one weekday in Central. It was not quiet for sure; there was plenty of laughter, good food and of course, being coaches, talk. Our first ever New Members Welcome Lunch organized by our VP Membership, Chi-wang was memorable!
"The ultimate strength and potential of HKICC lies in her members. The first ever New Members Welcoming Lunch had just kicked off and I felt proud to have organised it. The feedback has been very positive and encouraging. I wish all the members at HKICC can contribute themselves in any way they like. Through these authentic and trustworthy dialogues, interactions and all of us genuinely wanting to help each other, I know every member in our HKICC family will grow stronger. This will bring us to a higher level of coaching experiences, knowledge and insight. "
- Chi-wang MAU, VP (Membership)
“It’s always great fun to meet people who are energetic and creative. I also can’t help being more friendly (only a tiny bit folks) to people who love tasty food, talking about coaching (endlessly), supporting others, and making a difference. What I’m trying to say is; it was a wonderful to spend time with people who possess all the qualities I respect and admire. We do need to do this more often. So welcome to HKICC new members! You’ve come to the right place.”

“It was a magical afternoon in the main dining room of the Foreign Correspondence Club where a group of HKICC members got to know each other and shared experiences in coaching and training. The fabulous lunch was delicious and the environment was so warm and exciting. Thanks to Chi-wang who was the organizer of this event as he gave us a wonderful opportunity to get away from the pressures of work, relax ourselves and enjoy the time with other fellow coaches. Although I only joined HKICC in June 2006, that was my second lunch gathering already. It has been a rewarding and inspiring experience every time. Hurray!

“Last Friday I got the opportunity to meet some fellow new members at the Foreign Correspondence Club. Flora, Josephine, Deborah, Veronica, SK, Chi-wang, Wilson and I had lunch there. The idea behind it was for new members to get to know each other and meet the more experienced members. I walked away feeling inspired and satisfied to have found fellow coaching colleagues. I enjoyed hearing their stories on how and why they became coaches. Whether we work full time or part-time as Corporate or Personal Coaches, we are all driven by the desire to bring out the best in other people. And whilst doing this, we improve ourselves at the same time.
I have come to HK to become a trainer in the area of self development. A few years ago, I undertook some training which radically changed my perspective on things, and ever since then I have dreamt about one day finding the trainer of this training course and enrolling him to train me. Last year I decided to do so. I gave up my own company and moved to Hong Kong. The courses which I am trained to facilitate are emotional and can be quite confrontational at times. One of the biggest challenges is learning to get rid of “my own stuff” so that I can freely facilitate the process of our participants. To earn my living, I coach Executives and sell our experiential corporate team building trainings. I have found it challenging living in HK which has a different culture to where I come from. I often find living here challenging and frustrating one day, inspiring and rewarding the next… That’s just life.
Chi-wang shared a poem with us. There is a time to harvest and a time to reap and...I cannot recall the rest; in essence it was about the fact that everything has a specific time. Well, I am thankful to be in HK at this time. I also get to meet a group of like-minded people such as the people here at HKICC. From a global perspective, I find Hong Kong a most interesting place to make one’s home. And being active in the area of self development only makes it more interesting! I am glad to be on this journey with you. I am sure I will learn a lot from you all and I am committed to contribute to our community.
I think I would like to become a new member all over again next month, just right before the FCC lunch! If you are still hesitating on whether to become a member of the community: I would like to say that just the curry is already worth the membership and the rest is bonus! Just do it.

“Warm, cozy, light and yummy foods were the words that came to mind when I thought about the lunch on Friday for the HKICC new members. I loved the part when we all introduced ourselves and shared why we do what we do. It was really amazing to see a group of people who all shared the same intention of caring for others through coaching and training and who want to make a difference in others’ lives. It was a truly wonderful meeting. I want to thank SK for his leadership and to Chi-wang for organizing this lunch for us.”
