The HKICC has it’s roots in the first Hong Kong-based graduating class of Coach U, who in spring 2001 began meeting in fellow coaches’ homes to share their progress, inspire each other and to collaborate on promoting the benefits of coaching to the Hong Kong public. Since September 2001, an expanding group of coaches have met once a month to further their learning and develop the community. The HKICC incorporated in March 2006 from the HKCC, which was officially registered in December 2002.

2007

  • Organized Hong Kong’s first executive coaching conference
  • Uploaded a newly designed image for the Website
  • Conducted the first opinion survey of HKICC newsletter subscribers

2006

  • Provided articles on coaching for the South China Morning Post Signpost Column (still going strong)
  • TV Documentary on life coaching featuring HKICC member coaches produced by TVB Jade Channel, Tuesday Report 
  • Incorporated HKICC as a non-profit limited company and changed the name from HKCC to HKICC
  • Rewarded “Caring Organization” by the Hong Kong Council of Social Services
  • 112 members

2005

  • Organized the first bi-lingual Speed Coaching Day
  • Designed and implemented the HKICC Coaching Standards
  • Jointly organized with HKIHRM the “Employee Coaching and Counselling Certification Course (still running)
  • Provided voluntary coaching support to the AIESEC student leadership program (still running)
  • Implemented online membership application and payment
  • 82 members

2004

  • Organized first Voluntary Mentor Coaching Project with the Salvation Army offering a real coaching practice platform for volunteer coaches
  • Hired administrative support services and web-provider for website and newsletter
  • 82 members

2003

  • Created website with domain www.coachinghk.org
  • Organized first public event to promote coaching : Personal Coaching Day
  • Offered first free coaching program (for those affected by SARS)
  • 34 members

2002

  • Released first HKCC Newsletter
  • Began monthly “Executive Committee” meetings as well as open monthly members’ meetings
  • Created HKCC’s Mission
  • Registered as a society and accepted Founding Members

2001

  • Coaches in Hong Kong began regular monthly meetings through the Coach U Hong Kong Chapter
  • Coined the name “Hong Kong Coaching Community”
  • Organized the first open meeting in a public venue
