Message from the President

Dear HKICC Friends,

I hope you had an excellent start into the New Year and I wish you all the best for 2008!

A few days ago, I had a conversation with a new member of HKICC who was interested about the history of our association. This required me to reflect on the time since the inauguration in autumn 2002 and I realized that we passed the 5th anniversary last autumn, apparently without anyone noticing!

This is perhaps a good thing because it is an indication that we are quite forward-oriented - as coaches should be. Does this perhaps mean that the past is not important to us?

The New & Improved Coach Directory Now Available!

    By Charlie Lang

After considerable effort and about 3 weeks' delay, we are happy to announce that the new Coach Directory was finally launched on January 04, 2008!

What are the key features of the new directory?

    TOP 10 Tips for Wellness

By Anita SK Cheung, Integrative Wellness Coach and Corporate Wellness Consultant, and founder of Integrative-Living

    1. Get clear with your core values and priorities.
    2. Give your body the food that it was designed for. If you want to feel "whole", eat whole foods. If you want to reduce your quality of life, eat reduced foods.
    3. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of clean water everyday. Invest in a good water purifier and change the filter regularly.
    4. Breathe high quality air.
    5. Nourish yourself by creating pleasant sensual experiences (a massage, a hug, stroking a pet).

How a Wellness Coach Whipped Me Into Shape

Adapted by Carole Lewis from: http://www.getrichslowly.org/ - A blog posting by' J.D'. in the United States
    Thursday, 18th January 2007

Three months ago I wrote about the high cost of being fat. I had spent $4500 over 4 years because of my weight. The problem wasn't just costing me money - it had caused sleep apnea, a torn ACL, and mild depression - three conditions that eroded my quality of life.

Then a reader issued a challenge. Lauren Muney wrote to provide her services as a wellness coach free for 1 month: "I'm offering this to you because I've been reading your blog daily and I want to give back," she said. She continued: Most people think that coaching is bull. It's amazing how much money people will spend on diet books, fad equipment, diet pills, and the like - and never budge an inch. I just talk to my clients.

What got you interested in coaching?

A talk I attended by Paul McKenna (Hypnotist, Life Coach and Author) in February 2006 in Dubai, U.A.E., proved to be a defining moment for me. He kept emphasizing the importance of making changes, especially before you're quite ready, since we're experts at finding excuses. His talk had a huge impact on me and I suddenly found the courage to make big and long-lasting changes in my life. I read all his books and everything I could find on life coaching, self-improvement and instinctively knew that inspiring and coaching people was something I would absolutely love to do myself.
