Dear Friends,

Happy New Year!
It’s always at this time of year that most
people start to reflect on their life. After the
general overindulgence of the seasons’
celebrations, the New Year is a time to consider
what changes they want to introduce. Typically, new
year’s resolutions are based on behaviours
such as: giving up smoking, eating less, exercising
more, or external goals such as: changing job,
moving house, earning more money. These goals are
great, but rarely last through to February. What if
we were to set a different goal for ourselves? And
ask the question:
Who do I want to become?
In coaching, addressing the ‘who’
generally gets you closer to the core of the
situation. It initiates change on a deeper level by
identifying with a particular characteristic. What
kind of person do I want to be? Considerate,
playful, dynamic? How do I want others to view me?
Patient, loving, supportive? What skills do I want
to develop? Forgiveness, courage?
I’d like to put it to you, to ask
yourselves these questions. In twelve months time,
how would you like to have changed? Who will you
have become?
Take care and best wishes,
Michelle Lewis
