February 2006

Dear Friends,

February. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and our thoughts are drawn to love and romance and what we can do to attract more of it!

I believe ‘attraction’ works like a mirror. Whatever we send out to the world and those around us, we ultimately receive back in kind. A bad mood or sharp remark can often result in an unwelcome reciprocation. When we smile at someone, a stranger perhaps, often we are rewarded with a smile in return (even if a quizzical one). In this respect, as we look at what / or whom we want to ‘attract’, perhaps we should consider how we are being perceived. For example, if we want our partners to be more romantic with us, maybe we could think about ways to be romantic ourselves. If we want to ‘attract’ someone who is thoughtful and considerate, we should behave in a thoughtful and considerate manner. This principle applies equally to those who are single and those in a relationship.

Therefore, if this theory is true, what qualities do you wish for in your relationships and what actions are you willing to take this month to adopt those qualities yourself?

Personally, I’ll be buying my partner the biggest box of chocolates I can find!

Take care and best wishes,

Michelle Lewis

  • Great Coaching Opportunities for New Coaches

by Katherine Lo, Chairman of CXC Subcommittee

If you are interested in coaching, compassionate about it and looking for opportunities to practice it in your daily life, here is the Good News : CoachXchange Subcommittee (CXC) is going to coordinate series of coaching programmes to offer you chances to sharpen your coaching skills while serving the Hong Kong Community.

Strengthen Your Coaching Skills by Volunteering.

by Angela Spaxman, Immediate Past President of HKCC

No matter how much coach training you have done, there’s no way to actually learn the ropes as a coach without practice. Of course beginner coaches can still create great value for their clients. They have skills and tools as well as their hearts and minds to share. And there’s no doubt that from whatever level they begin, they can improve dramatically as the hours of practice build up. Thomas Leonard, the founder of Coach U, Coachville and several other coaching organizations, used to say that coaches need to coach 100 people in order to become proficient. As coaches gain more hours of coaching experience, they become more comfortable with their role, they develop strategies for dealing with different coaching situations and they build a collection of life experiences and approaches that their clients share with them. As coaches become more consistently effective, their confidence grows, their reputations build and their client lists gets healthier.

NLP - the New Technology of Achieving Excellence

NLP is a new way of reaching your full potential.  Some describe it as the study of excellence, others think of NLP as powerful tools for change.  NLP teaches you the 'how' of personal development.

DD Centre is proud to present the Certified NLP Practitioner Course 2006, the third class since 2004. The course emphasizes more on the ‘How’ approach and on experiential learning. You will be able to apply what you have learnt in the same way as you learn how to become a competent driver on the road, through learning by doing and perfecting by practice.

To this end, the Course is designed to -

    • extend over a 2.5 month period so that the learning will be gradual, enabling the NLP skills to become a part of you,
    • have a high facilitator to participant ratio, thus enabling participants to receive maximum attention during this experiential learning,
    • be application-oriented with numerous daily life examples. Participants will be putting NLP to use and benefit from it, achieving excellence and desired results immediately,
    • invite the most prominent overseas trainers in their respective fields, including Judith Delozier (one of the 4 original co-developers of the NLP (Richard Bandler, John Grinner, Robert Dilts and Judith DeLozier) at Santa Cruz since 1975) and Leo Angart (proficient in the field of hypnosis, pranic healing and other mind works,
    • allow participants who may be interested only in specific fields or areas to benefit from the Course by taking individual sessions; and
    • have certification by Judith Delozier, for those who are serious about becoming a certified NLP practitioner.

How could I find out more about this Course ?
