Resources Coaching Resources Our Christmas Party By Veronica Lee, VP Training As we all know by now, the theme of our annual party was MAGIC. Once I heard the news, I started to think of the ways to “not” cross the thin line that exists between MAGIC and INSANITY because I’m guilty of having gone over to the other side of the scale, that is, insane side. So I put some very low-keyed item in my bag as I was leaving for the party hoping that I wouldn’t have to use the prop at all. As I was setting up the registration table people started to show up with a small gift for the gift exchange in their hands. Some had colorful glitters on her faces and some had loved ones in their arms. I was kind of forced, –oops, sorry, nobody twisted my arm- gently persuaded to be a model “Magical-looking-person” to welcome people. So I gave in. “Okay then.” I reached into the bag to take out the low-keyed item of the evening. My tiara. Yes, I wore a tiara and sprinkled myself with red and gold glitter as if I were a piece of juicy steak being seasoned with ground black pepper! I may sound cynical to some but it was actually fun thing to do. Okay, at the time. I could easily find many faces I had never seen before. A lady came almost towards the end of the meal just because she really wanted to know more about coaching. –Folks, I didn’t try to sell the membership to the lady. Not that hard- I also missed a few faces we had not seen for a long time. They said some got really busy, some changed jobs, and some decided to go back to their life before coaching. I must say I’m beginning to enjoy this ever changing movement of comings in and goings out within our coaching community. Weather was clearly on our side and the evening was enjoyable. We had deep conversation with one another sharing the plans for the future, ideas about the next book to be published, and new and exciting challenges we’ll be taking on next year, with PASSION! And yes, we did take a lot of pictures while giggling like school kids. And all of a sudden on the way home it hit me. The fact that it truly was our very last annual event as Hong Kong Coaching Community. Because we are now getting ready to begin afresh as an organization called, “Hong Kong International Coaching Community.” Out with the old, in with the new! Farewell to HKCC, hurrah for HKICC! What an exciting time for us all, the caring souls. Happy holidays everyone.
