The Coach of the Month August 2004

Very Interesting Combination for a Coach, Why do you choose this target group?

I am passionate about seeing teenagers and women be all they can be, to dream big and accomplish great things. My desire is to support families, teens and young women to build a strong personal foundation so they are confident, assertive, valued driven and not swayed by the crowd.

Why teenagers and not business - isn't that where the money is?

As a Coach, you realize the importance of choosing a career that honors your values and your passions in life and for me I understand that transitioning into teenager years can be quite a stressful time both for the teenager and the families living with them! It seems your friendly sweet child, overnight changes into a complex, rebellious alien. The way you once communicated with them whilst a child is no longer effective. It's through this transition to teenage years that young people are physically and emotionally going through rapid change; they are starting to form their own values, discover their own identities and find their own reason for existence and purpose in this world. It's during this time that their foundations for growing into mature adults are being built. This foundation will form their identities, their values and their esteem.

I believe it's throughout this transition that teenagers require stable, healthy mentors who can guide them to develop values for their life, increase confidence and esteem, make healthy decisions and to train them to take responsibility for the part they play in a family relationship. As a Teen Coach, my desire is to be one such mentor for these families. I work individually with both teen and parent to help restore family values, build confidence, strengthen esteem and achieve set goals. I assist in building strong foundations into teenager's lives by using coaching techniques developed by CoachU University and soon to implement the Parent as Coach Academy techniques.

What's your experience in coaching?

I have been working with teenagers on their personal foundations for eight years. I have run many secondary school programs based around self-esteem and leadership and seen great growth in many teens' lives. One of my greatest strengths lies in my ability to connect with teens and to communicate with them honesty, respect and support them in moving forward - and I truly enjoy working with my clients. I currently have clients in three different countries and am looking forward to expanding that further!

I have been officially coaching parents and women for the last 2.5 years and I am a graduate coach from CoachU and in the process of gaining a certified parent and teen coach qualification through the Parent As Coach Academy.

How does it work and what programs do you run?

I normally work over the phone or face-to-face, depending on the client and how they are 'wired-up', and if it's a group or individual session. I also run various teen coaching programs such as Breaking The Mould- a journey of self discovery, esteem and leadership principles, true attraction programs, developing strong foundation programs and one to one coaching programs tailored to suit the individual and family needs.

What do you love most about being a Coach?

Supporting others to firstly realize they can achieve greatness in their lives and then watching them do it!
